TO: LUSCOMBE 8A Home Page

Purchased in Maryland and trucked in pieces to Colorado in Fall of 2000,

Plans were to update aircraft to modern technical level where possible and replace components to make it as reliable as possible, but to retain as much of the classic Luscombe look as possible...

  

Aircraft soon after purchase.....

One Year Later, back to Fall season again, it has progressed to.....

74 inch Prop with 52 inch pull will get us there....

Full Instrumentation, just in case.... Transponder, GPS, Com Radio and Interphone

ALSO....

The addition of a Contintal O-200 Engine, from a Cessna 150, is needed for flying in the Rocky Mountains

Airport elevations 6,500 plus, Mountains 14,000 plus....Check the altimeter if you don't think so....

New Cylinders from Superior, New Exhaust from Wag Aero.... 

Added Cooling and Oil Filter

Darn it !!!! I said fly under the Bridge not through it....

Appearance loosely copied from a WWII Patrol/Spotter aircraft, similar to the two Luscombes ( Models 8A & 8B ) stationed in Panama from 1942 to 1945.. Designated as UC-90

Taxi Testing completed and first flight accomplished on 11-18-01

More fun to follow....

In February 2002 it passed its 100th hour of flight since rebuild
